1.) Objective: Students will learn what Peer Mediation is
and why it's effective.
2.) I will begin my presentation by introducing myself and my topic:
-Jackie Salas, Peer Mediation (10 seconds)
3.) Then I will ask if anybody knows what Peer Mediation is. (5seconds)
4.) I then will explain what Peer Mediation is and why I think it
is important to know about. (45 seconds)
-Peer Mediation is a program that helps people in a conflict
to come to a solution that they both agree with. Mediation is
confidential, meaning only the mediators and the disputants will
know about the mediation at hand. I think people should be educated
on Peer Mediation because it positively affects an individual's everyday
life and helps deescalate conflicts.
5.) I will explain why Peer Mediation is effective? (45 seconds)
-Peer Mediation as proved to be effective in many middle and high schools.
It has been proved that Peer Mediation programs have reduced fights and conflicts
among students. Peer Mediation is mainly effective because you are working toward
a solution with your Peer instead of an adult or teacher. I think it is easier to open up
to a person your age or someone close to your age. Another reason why Peer Mediation is
effective is because it is voluntary and the disputants are the one's coming up with the solution.
The mediators are there just to guide them.
6.) I will check for understanding by asking my audience to give me to reasons why
Peer Mediation is effective. (15 seconds)
For my visual I will be using the white board to jot things down
as I'm presenting.
All the times added together equal to 2 minuets, I should be speaking for
that amount give and take some.
What if you made a poster enlargement of a contract (with fake agreements) and used that to talk about the important aspects?
